Science Week: Wriggly Roadshow Workshop

As part of our Science Week activities, students took part in the exciting Wriggly Roadshow Workshop, which ran over two days. Selected classes attended sessions throughout the day to explore the fascinating world of reptiles and invertebrates.

Students learned about the evolution, habitats and survival strategies of animals such as snakes, spiders and lizards, and discovered how these creatures adapt to their environments.

A highlight for many was the opportunity to see these amazing animals up close, making it a memorable hands-on science experience!

SEND Boys Football – Manchester City Community League

Well done to our SEND Boys Football Team who recently attended the SEND Manchester City Community League at the Etihad Campus Training Facility. The students demonstrated great ability, teamwork, and resilience throughout the day, playing 8 games—winning 6, drawing 1, and losing just 1.

It was fantastic to see the students supporting, motivating, and encouraging each other in every game, truly reflecting our Kingsway values.
We are incredibly proud of their effort, sportsmanship and determination.

We are so proud of our talented students!
Leah, Year 7, has created an amazing Ugly Dolls project piece. Dyar, Year 9, hand-sewed a binca-style bookmark and even made one for Mr Ward. Raiba, Year 10, produced an extra piece for her GCSE coursework, showing dedication and creativity. Amaar, Year 7, continues to impress with exceptional work and attitude, and Lunas, Year 8, designed a stunning Street Art skateboard.

Bringing Science to Life at Manchester Museum

Recently, our Year 10 Science students attended the annual Science Week Fair at Manchester Museum. The visit gave students the opportunity to explore exciting scientific ideas, discover fascinating exhibits and see how science is used in the real world.

Our Year 9 students recently took part in an exciting two-day arts experience led by local Carnival Arts organisation Global Grooves.
Students enjoyed energetic Brazilian dance and Samba drumming sessions, led by expert artists, exploring rhythm, movement and creativity while learning about Carnival culture.
Global Grooves create high-quality arts experiences that celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity and bring communities together through creativity.

Yesterday evening we were delighted to host our Community Interfaith Iftar at Kingsway Park High School. 🌙

The event was a great success and it was wonderful to see so many students, families and members of our community come together during the blessed month of Ramadan. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the evening meant a great deal to those who attended.

Year 10 Mock Interviews Success!

Recently, our Year 10 students took part in mock interviews with external employers – a vital part of our careers education and character development programme.

Stepping outside of their comfort zones, students experienced first-hand what it’s like to perform in higher-pressure situations. From professional communication to confident body language, they demonstrated resilience, maturity and a willingness to grow.

This invaluable experience not only prepares them for upcoming work experience placements, but also equips them with the crucial skills needed for college applications and future employment.

We are incredibly proud of how they embraced the challenge and represented our school. A huge thank you to the employers who gave their time and expertise to support our students’ futures!

Special Friday Jummua Prayer Service at KPHS 🌙

This Friday (27th February), as part of the holy month of Ramadan, KPHS will be holding a Special Jummua Prayer Service for students.

We are honoured to welcome Imam Irfan Chishti MBE, who will lead the service and share reflections on “Sharing the Spirit of Ramadan.”

🕌 Service Times:
• 12:15 – 12:50pm (Room P105)
• 1:15 – 1:45pm (Main Hall)

This is a special opportunity for prayer, reflection, and coming together as a community during Ramadan.

Students are kindly reminded to:
✔ Complete wudu before lunch (during break or in the morning)
✔ Arrive on time
✔ Follow staff instructions
✔ Show respect at all times

A huge well done to our football team for remaining unbeaten at the SEMH Greater Manchester football tournament! They recently won all of their matches, keeping four clean sheets and scoring 22 goals, demonstrating skill, determination, and fantastic teamwork.

Postcards from Paris!
Our Year 8 students have been developing their descriptive writing skills by creating postcards from an imaginary trip to Paris all written in the past tense.
We were so impressed with the beautifully extended sentences and thoughtful descriptions from Oscar, Alana, Maria and Virginia. Their writing truly brought the sights, sounds and atmosphere of Paris to life, from wandering along the Seine to admiring the Eiffel Tower.
It has been wonderful to see their progress, especially as many were learning the features of a postcard and where each part should go.
We are so proud of their effort, creativity and enthusiasm and look forward to sharing more fantastic examples soon.

Kingsway Park High School students recently attended their first-ever ballet performance, watching The Nutcracker at The Opera House, Manchester.

For many students, this was also their first visit to a large-scale theatre, and the experience left a lasting impression. From the grandeur of the auditorium to the power of the live orchestra and performance, the evening provided an important opportunity to engage with the arts in a new and meaningful way.

The visit forms part of our ongoing commitment to broadening cultural experiences and ensuring our students feel confident accessing spaces such as theatres, galleries and performance venues.

Our students have successfully advanced to the finals of the prestigious Rotary Youth Speaks competition after delivering a powerful speech titled “The Mental Cost of Racism.”
The team impressed judges with their confidence, passion, and articulate exploration of a challenging and important issue. Student Leadership Success at Carrington Training Ground

Two Key Stage 3 students were given the opportunity to take part in the Sports Leaders Young Leaders Award at Carrington Training Ground.
As part of the programme, the students planned and delivered a sports coaching session to the men’s first team. They demonstrated excellent leadership, confidence, and communication skills throughout the day and both successfully passed the course with flying colours.

Recently, our Year 9–11 students took part in an exciting internal workshop led by the agency PLACED, who are working with Rochdale Council to redevelop the Town Centre with young people in mind.

Students explored the current Town Centre, shared their insights, and created idea sheets, models, and key questions to contribute to the wider discussion.

We are so proud of our students – they demonstrated creativity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful ideas throughout the workshop!

Eight of our Year 9 students joined the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s Clean Kicks project. They learned how to create and design their own unique footwear that would otherwise go to landfill.

The project combines upcycling and creative workshops, giving students the chance to develop skills, confidence, and new opportunities. Students will also take part in a Level 1 qualification in Developing Leadership Skills, as well as workshops in enterprise, photography, and environmental awareness.

Over two days, they attended sessions covering topics like online safety, choices and consequences, and life behind bars. The workshops provided helpful information to support young people in making positive decisions. The students heard real life stories, and visited a mock cell as part of the workshops delivered.
