Two Great Days of Sports and Fun at Kingsway Park High School

Our annual Sports Day brought together students from all year groups for two memorable days of competition, achievement and fun. Students competed in a range of athletics events, including the 100m and 200m sprints, relay races, long jump, shot put, discus and javelin, showing fantastic determination, resilience and teamwork throughout. Congratulations to all of our medal winners – you should be incredibly proud of your achievements!

To round off the celebrations, selected students enjoyed an exciting Inflatables Day, filled with laughter, energy and plenty of smiles. It was a wonderful way to reward our students and end the academic year on a high.

A big thank you to Miss Pitt for organising the event, and to all the staff involved in making these two fantastic days possible. Your hard work and dedication were truly appreciated.
Well done to all of our amazing students for their enthusiasm, determination and energy, and for making the celebrations so memorable! 💙

Sedulo Foundation Donates Back to School Essentials for Our Students

A huge thank you to the Sedulo Foundation for donating Back to School packs for our students.
These packs, filled with essential school equipment and everyday items, will be provided to selected students at Kingsway Park High School ahead of the new academic year.

The Sedulo Foundation's Back to School campaign helps tackle child poverty by providing children across the UK with the essential supplies they need to return to school ready to learn, helping to remove barriers and create opportunities for every young person to succeed.
We would also like to thank Miss Ratcliffe, our Pastoral Director, for coordinating this support for our school community.
Together, we can make a real difference. 💙

More Families May Now Be Eligible for Free School Meals

From September 2026, the Government is expanding eligibility for Free School Meals so that all children whose parents or carers receive Universal Credit will be entitled to receive a free school meal.

If you think your family may qualify visit: https://www.rochdale.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals to read more information and check your eligibility.

If you're currently receiving free school meals, you don't need to do anything. Your entitlement will be checked in July 2026 and you will be informed of any changes.
Together, we can ensure that every child has access to a healthy meal during the school day and that families receive the support they are entitled to.

Zarach is a charity helping to end child bed poverty, making sure every child has a safe, comfortable place to sleep and the best chance to thrive in school.

We want families to feel completely comfortable speaking with us. There is no stigma, no judgement and no negative impact on your child. Life can change quickly, and any family can find themselves needing support.

To be transparent, here’s when a referral can be made:
• Children without a suitable bed – sleeping on the floor, sofa, sharing a bed or using a broken/unsafe bed
• No bedding available or only makeshift bedding
• Families in temporary accommodation, emergency housing or experiencing homelessness
• Financial crisis or sudden change in circumstances preventing parents from replacing a bed
• Children who are tired in school, struggling with attendance, concentration or wellbeing due to lack of sleep
• Situations involving domestic abuse, family breakdown or instability affecting a child’s ability to sleep safely

Referrals must come from a professional, and if accepted, Zarach provides a full Bed Bundle including a bed, mattress, bedding, hygiene pack and a book.

Year 7 Reward Trip to Jodrell Bank Observatory 🌟

Recently, 55 of our Year 7 students enjoyed an unforgettable visit to Jodrell Bank Observatory as a reward for their outstanding commitment to science homework throughout the year.

Students explored the iconic Lovell Telescope, discovered more about the fascinating world of radio astronomy, and enjoyed the interactive exhibitions in the First Light Pavilion, bringing the wonders of space science to life.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience science beyond the classroom, inspiring curiosity, creativity and a passion for discovery. It was also wonderful for students to learn that some former Kingsway Park High School students have gone on to work at Jodrell Bank through the University of Manchester.

Well done to all our Year 7 students who earned this special reward through their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm for science. We are incredibly proud of you!

We were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 students to Kingsway Park High School for Transition Day.
It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces as students explored their new school, met their teachers, took part in activities, and began making new friendships. We were incredibly impressed with the enthusiasm, confidence, and positivity shown throughout the day.
A huge thank you to all our staff, student ambassadors, and families who helped make the day such a success. We hope everyone left feeling excited about starting their journey with us in September.

Year 9 Students Explore Archaeology at Tonge Hall

Forty of our Year 9 students enjoyed an exciting hands-on experience taking part in a real archaeological excavation at Tonge Hall in Middleton.
Working alongside experienced volunteers, students uncovered fascinating historical finds, including handmade nails and fragments of pottery, while learning more about archaeology, heritage, and future career opportunities.
Our students showed fantastic enthusiasm, curiosity, and represented the school brilliantly throughout the visit. A wonderful opportunity to bring history to life! 🌟

Year 10 Dance Experience Professional Musical Theatre

Our Year 10 Dance students had an incredible opportunity to experience the magic of London's West End with a performance of Moulin Rouge at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Before the show, they enjoyed exploring the vibrant atmosphere of Covent Garden, and the experience was made even more special with the chance to see the set up close, admire the stunning costumes, and step onto the famous West End stage.

An unforgettable trip that inspired our students and gave them a real insight into the world of professional musical theatre! ✨

When Student Ideas Become Reality 🌟

We are incredibly proud of five of our Alpha Team students, who have been working with Rochdale Borough and Cartwheel Arts to co-design a new educational resource for children from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities.
Over four creative co-design sessions, our students worked alongside an artist and a designer to share their ideas, create artwork, test activities and help shape the overall design of the resource.
The final outcome will be an online PDF resource focused on literacy, numeracy and the Five Ways to Wellbeing, designed to support primary-aged children from Travelling communities to continue learning while on the move. Our students' artwork, ideas and preferred activities have been incorporated throughout, ensuring their voices are at the heart of the resource.
We are so proud of our students for their creativity, enthusiasm and commitment to this fantastic project, and we can't wait to see the finished resource making a positive difference for children and families.

Tag Rugby Success!

Well done to our students from Years 7–10 who represented Kingsway Park High School at the SEND Tag Rugby Event at Hopwood Hall College.
They were a credit to the school, showing fantastic behaviour, teamwork and determination throughout the day. After taking part in coaching sessions, they went on to win every game in the tournament, scoring some brilliant tries!
To top it all off, several students were invited to train with Mayfield Rugby Club.

Creative Clay Creations in 9K5!

This term, our talented students in 9K5 have been making clay creatures in their art lessons, and the results have been absolutely fantastic! From imaginative animals to unique designs, the creativity on display has been incredible.

A special shout-out to Angel, who went a little off-piste and created a beautiful heart instead of a creature—we loved the idea and embraced the creativity! ❤️

Kingsway Park High School Students Impress at Old Trafford Cooking Competition! 🏆🍽️

A group of our talented Year 10 students recently attended a cooking competition at Old Trafford, where they were challenged to create a dish of their choice to be judged by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White.
A huge congratulations to Waris, who was crowned the overall winner of the competition, with Aaqib finishing a very close second – an incredible achievement for both students!
As part of his success, Waris has been awarded chef whites and has been made an honorary member of the Manchester United match day catering team – a fantastic and well-deserved recognition of his culinary talent.
Well done to Waris, Aaqib, Moiz and Alisha for representing Kingsway Park High School with enthusiasm, creativity and professionalism throughout the event. We are incredibly proud of you all and the way you showcased your talents.

Important Water Safety Advice for Families This Summer

As the warm weather continues, we're reminding families about the very real dangers of swimming in lakes and reservoirs.
Even confident swimmers can get into difficulty due to cold water shock, hidden currents and sudden depth changes.

💙 If you get into trouble in the water – Float to Live: lie on your back, keep calm and gently move your hands and feet.
🆘 If someone else is in trouble – Phone, Float, Throw:
📞 Call 999 (ask for Fire if inland or Coastguard at the coast)
🛟 Throw something that floats
❌ Never enter the water yourself.
